Organizational Management

For many people it is a major joy when they get the keys to a car – new or used, it is still a car. But it has to be managed. It needs insurance, petrol (gas), oil and water. It needs to be kept secure at night. Trips need planning ahead so that the car is used efficiently. Any other drivers must know how to drive and be safe on the road. And if it turns out to be a money-gobbler, a waste of resources… you may have to manage it out of your life.

If you work in an NGO then you are managing every day: your time, your resources. You plan, do your work and think about how it went – talking perhaps to your boss. And bosses have to be sure that they keep their management skills sharp and effective.
