What’s a blog and why?

A blog is piece of reporting from someone away from the newspaper building or online editor. It may be a series of reports –or descriptions – or poems – or local jokes. Off-centre reporting by off- centre people in, sometimes, unorthodox style.

Our first blog series is from our colleague Bryan Walker, who took up a VSO post in Uganda, as their agent at Provincial level working with the Disabled. He had worked extensively in Africa – so was ready to take the culture shock along with a big dose of humour. We hoped we would be following the development of his first project… if things work out. But they may not.

Could you write a blog? Are you running a project with all its problems and small successes? Are you teaching non-literates and could tell us how they meet success? Could you be the scribe for a community member, battling T.B. or training her disabled child to feed herself?

If so, contact us
